Winger played three games with the Walleye

Rockford, Ill.- The National Hockey League’s Chicago Blackhawks announced on Sunday that they have reassigned winger Byron Froese from the ECHL’s Toledo Walleye to the American Hockey League’s Rockford IceHogs.

Froese played three games with the Walleye and registered a goal and an assist. Chicago’s fourth round pick (119 overall) in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, Froese has been held scoreless in 11 games with Rockford this season.

The Winkler, Manitoba native spent three seasons in the Western Hockey League and had 43 goals and 38 assists in 70 games with the Red Deer Rebels in 2010-11.

Friday, Dec. 9 vs. Chicago: The Wolves come to town for the third of twelve games between Rockford and Chicago and another Illinois Lottery Cup matchup. The puck drops at 7:05 p.m. The first 1,500 fans 21-and-older will pick up the second IceHogs pint glass in a series of three courtesy of Applebees. Cylinder 6 will also be performing live before the game and during both intermissions.
