FOUR-GOAL THIRD PUSHES STARS PAST HOGS
Austin, TX. - Jordan Schroeder tallied in his first game since returning from injury, but the Texas Stars exploded for four unanswered goals in the third period to defeat the Rockford IceHogs 5-1 Friday night at H-E-B Center.
The contest started as a low-scoring affair, with Schroeder tying the game at one apiece at the 18:44 mark of the second period. Dylan Sikura cruised behind the net and found Schroeder wide open in the slot, and Schroeder converted high to the glove side. The veteran forward has potted goals in four of his last five outings and is now just two markers shy of the team lead.
After the teams skated into the second intermission with the score even, defenseman Taylor Fedun jumpstarted the Stars’ third-period run on a long shot from the point past a screened Collin Delia.
Later in the stanza, Travis Morin and Samuel Laberge gave the Stars a firm grip on the contest with goals just 37 seconds apart. Colton Hargrove capped off the offensive outburst, tallying at the 15:25 mark of the third period and giving the Stars a four-goal lead that they would never relinquish.
The Hogs will quickly get a chance to bounce back when they take on the San Antonio Rampage Saturday night at AT&T Center.
