ROCKFORD, Ill. – The American Hockey League’s Rockford IceHogs today announced forward Victor Ejdsell (EHJ-suhl) has been assigned to Rockford from HV71 in the Swedish Hockey League.
Ejdsell, 22, skated in 50 games with HV in the top level of the SHL, tallying 34 points with 20 goals, 14 assists and 32 penalty minutes. The 6-5, 214-lbs forward paced all HV skaters in goals and PIMs, ranked second on the team in scoring and finished fourth in games played. He helped lead HV to a playoff berth this year and collected two PIMs in two games during the postseason.
Prior to skating in the top level of the SHL, the Karlstad, Sweden native was named the Most Valuable Player and the Forward of the Year with Karlskoga of the Swedish second league (Allsvenskan) in 2016-17. Ejdsell led the entire league in scoring with 57 points (25g, 32a) in 50 contests last season, and concluded the campaign ranked second in the league in assists and tied for third in goals. The forward’s 57 points were five more than any other skater in Allsvenskan in 2016-17.
Overall, Ejdsell has notched 36 points (22g, 14a) in 71 career SHL games over three seasons with Farjestad BK (2014-16) and HV (2017-18). He also served as captain of Farjestad's junior team during the 2014-15 season.
Ejdsell was originally signed by the Nashville Predators on May 15, 2017. He was then acquired by the Chicago Blackhawks on Feb. 26, 2018.
