FORMER ICEHOGS HELP HAWKS IN PRESEASON OPENER
Brouwer nets game winner against Columbus
Chicago, Ill.- The Chicago Blackhawks opened their 2008 preseason schedule on Tuesday night and several former Rockford IceHogs skaters contributed in Chicago’s 4-3 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets at the United Center.
Corey Crawford played the entire contest for the Blackhawks, earning the win after making 28 saves. With the game tied at three, winger Troy Brouwer picked up a Colin Fraser rebound and banged it past Columbus’ Dan Lacosta at 13:42 of the final period for the eventual game-winning goal.
Kris Versteeg tallied Chicago’s second goal with helpers from Evan Brophey and Cam Barker in the second period just 21 seconds after Pascal Pelletier, acquired from the Boston Bruins for Martin St. Pierre over the summer, put the Hawks on the board.
Chicago resumes its preseason schedule on Friday night with a contest against the Minnesota Wild at the United Center.
