Local band to entertain fans during intermissions

Rockford, Ill. – The BMO Harris Bank Center is going to have a different feel for the Rockford IceHogs game on Friday as the team is hosting Los IceHogs night.

The Hogs hit the ice at 7:05 p.m. to battle the Houston Aeros for the first time in 2012-13. For tickets to Friday’s game, or any IceHogs game, call (815) 968-5222, log onto IceHogs.com or visit any Ticketmaster outlet or the BMO Harris Bank Center Box Office.

"It’s been a wonderful experience having this collaboration between this IceHogs and the Latino community,” said Rudy Valdez, a member of the Coalition of Latino Leaders. “We look forward to future partnerships with the IceHogs, RAVE and BMO Harris Bank Center that gives us access to more entertainment for our community.”

The IceHogs will wear special Los IceHogs jerseys during the game on Friday. Two of the players' jerseys will be raffled off during Friday’s contest while the remaining sweaters will be raffled off at future IceHogs games throughout the 2012-13 season. The IceHogs Mountain Dew Crew will be selling raffle tickets for one dollar each or six tickets for $5 throughout the night.

Following the event, four of the game-worn uniforms will also be put up for auction on the IceHogs eBay store, with a portion of the proceeds being donated to La Voz Latina, an organization dedicated to serving the Rockford region’s Hispanic community through education, workshops and youth programming.

The first 2,500 fans (21 and older) into the building will receive an IceHogs maraca courtesy of Corona. Prior to the start of the game, a ceremonial puck drop will take place honoring Hispanic-American Veterans.

Local band, Aires de Guamajuato will perform after pregame warm-ups, during both intermissions and briefly after the game. Also throughout the game on Friday, goals and penalties will be read in Spanish, in addition to Public Address Announcer Chris Toltzman’s announcements of the game.

In addition, several regional Hispanic groups will be on-site to distribute information to attendees about their organization.

Next Home Game: Wednesday, Nov. 14 vs. Peoria Rivermen. The puck drops at 7:05 p.m. in the Illinois Lottery Cup matchup. It’s a Dollar Day at the BMO Harris Bank Center as fans can take advantage of one dollar beers, hot dogs, sodas, or companion tickets.
