ERIKSSON EK EKES OUT WILD WIN

Recap ia 11 24

ROCKFORD, Ill. – The Rockford IceHogs extended their point streak to four games, but fell to the Iowa Wild 2-1 in overtime at the BMO Harris Bank Center Friday night. Iowa’s win knotted the season series against Rockford at three wins apiece.

Joel Eriksson Ek recorded the game-winning goal at 3:44 of the extra frame, taking a pass from Landon Ferraro and ripping it past Rockford goaltender Jeff Glass for the win. The OT marker was his first AHL goal of the season.

The teams originally traded chances early in the game, and Iowa opened the scoring with just 13 seconds remaining in the first period. Ryan Murphy corralled a loose puck and snuck it through Glass for an early Wild lead.

Luc Snuggerud responded for the Hogs in the second period, notching his second goal of the year with a blast from the blue line seven minutes into the stanza. Vinnie Hinostroza tallied his team-leading 10th assist on the goal.

Both Glass and Iowa’s Steve Michalek faced 34 shots in the contest—Glass turned aside 32, while his counterpart did one better, stopping 33 pucks at the other end.

Despite the loss, Rockford maintains second place in the Central Division.
