ROCKFORD, Ill. – The Chicago Blackhawks today announced they have recalled forward Victor Ejdsell from the American Hockey League’s Rockford IceHogs.
Ejdsell, 22, was assigned to the IceHogs on March 21 and skated in two games with Rockford. He made his AHL debut on March 23 vs. Milwaukee and notched an assist that night for his first career AHL point. Overall, the forward combined for one point and six shots in two appearances with Rockford.
Last season, Ejdsell skated in 50 games with HV in the top level of the SHL, tallying 34 points with 20 goals, 14 assists and 32 penalty minutes. The 6-5, 214-lbs forward paced all HV skaters in goals and PIMs, ranked second on the team in scoring and finished fourth in games played. He helped lead HV to a playoff berth and collected two PIMs in two games during the postseason.
Prior to skating in the top level of the SHL, the Karlstad, Sweden native was named the Most Valuable Player and the Forward of the Year with Karlskoga of the Swedish second league (Allsvenskan) in 2016-17. Ejdsell led the entire league in scoring with 57 points (25g, 32a) in 50 contests last season, and concluded the campaign ranked second in the league in assists and tied for third in goals. The forward’s 57 points were five more than any other skater in Allsvenskan in 2016-17.
Ejdsell was originally signed by the Nashville Predators on May 15, 2017. He was then acquired by the Chicago Blackhawks on Feb. 26, 2018.
