D-MAN BRIAN CONNELLY RE-SIGNS WITH BLACKHAWKS

Connelly was named the IceHogs Best Defenseman in 2010-11 and Rookie of the Year in 2009-10.

Rockford, Ill. – The Chicago Blackhawks agreed to terms on Friday with defenseman Brian Connelly on a one-year contract.

Connelly led all Rockford defenseman and ranked second on the team with 52 points (11g-41a) in 80 games during 2010-11. The Bloomington, Minn. native was named Rockford’s Best Defenseman, setting IceHogs AHL records for points (52), goals (11) and assists (41) by a defenseman. The marks were all also career-highs for the IceHogs blueliner.

The undrafted third-year pro also notched two assists while representing the IceHogs at the 2011 American Hockey League All-Star Classic.

Overall, the 25 year-old d-man has appeared in 167 career games with Rockford, putting him second all-time among IceHogs defensemen while recording 16 goals and 74 assists in that span. Connelly’s 90 career points from the blue line rank him third all-time in Hogs history.

Prior to turning pro, Connelly spent three years at Colorado College (NCAA) registering 63 points (8g-55a) in 114 career games.
