Hogs summon Richards from Toledo

Rockford, Ill.- The Chicago Blackhawks announced on Tuesday that the National Hockey League club has recalled goalie Corey Crawford from the American Hockey League’s Rockford IceHogs. In addition, goaltender Alec Richards has been reassigned by the Blackhawks from the Toledo Walleye (ECHL) to the IceHogs.

The recall to Chicago for Crawford is his first on the season. The Montreal native is the IceHogs all-time winningest goalie with 71 career wins in a Rockford uniform and leads the club with 20 victories in 2009-10. Crawford currently has a 2.80 goals against average and .905 save percentage. Before his recall to Chicago, Crawford was the active wins leader in the AHL as the fifth-year goalie has 131 career AHL wins.

Chicago’s second round pick (#52 overall) in the 2003 NHL Draft, Crawford has appeared in seven regular season games with the Blackhawks in his career and has a record of 1-2-1 with a .915 SPCT and 2.72 GAA.

Richards is currently playing in his rookie season and has earned his fourth recall to Rockford in ’09-10. The Robbinsdale, Minn. native has played in six games with the IceHogs and carries a record of 3-2-0-0 with and .895 SPCT and a 3.12 GAA.

In 31 games with the Walleye, Richards is 16-11-4 with an .894 SPCT and a 3.43 GAA. Prior to turning pro, Richards spent the previous four years at Yale University and is the Bulldogs all-time shutouts leader with six.

Next Home Game: Friday, March 19 vs. Peoria Rivermen: Game time is 7:05 p.m. The first 3,000 fans to pass through the gate will get one of three IceHogs player figurines. The players featured are Mike Brennan, Evan Brophey and Jake Dowell. Plus, the IceHogs are giving away five game worn jerseys from the 2009-10 season. All jerseys will be drawn at random and fans can sign up to win at the game. The IceHogs jerseys to be given away on March 19 include Matt Keith, Daryl Boyle, Ryan Flinn, Jack Skille and Brian Connelly.
