CONNELLY NAMED TO THE AHL ALL-STAR GAME

Second-year defenseman leads Rockford in points

Rockford, Ill.- The American Hockey League announced the 2011 All-Star Teams on Tuesday and Rockford IceHogs defenseman Brian Connelly was named to the Western Conference squad.

Connelly, 24, leads all Rockford skaters with 24 points, including a team-best 20 assists on the season. The Bloomington, Minn. native is the only IceHogs skater to have appeared in all 36 games so far in 2010-11. His 24 points are just 11 shy of his rookie season total from a season ago.

The 5-10 defenseman leads Rockford with 11 power-play points, all assists, and is tied for the team lead with five multi-point games. In his second full season in Rockford, Connelly is Rockford’s all-time points leader among AHL blue-liners, amassing 62 points in 123 career games in an IceHogs uniform.

Prior to turning pro, Connelly skated four seasons at Colorado College (NCAA) and totaled 114 games while accumulating 8g-55a-63pts with the Tigers.
