Rockford snaps four-game drought against Texas
Cedar Park, Tex.- After four losses to the Texas Stars, the Rockford IceHogs finally had enough. Rockford knocked off the West Division’s top team 3-2 on Saturday at the Cedar Park Center, earning them their first win over the Stars and first road win (1-6-1-1) against a West Division foe this season.
Rockford stormed out to a 2-0 first period lead on Saturday. Bracken Kearns got the scoring started at 5:17 of the first period when he flipped in a Kyle Greentree pass past Richard Bachman for his sixth goal of the season. Danny Bois also figured in on the goal. Greentree’s assist extended his team season high point streak to nine straight games.
Later in the frame, on a delayed penalty, Rockford extended their lead to 2-0. Richard Petiot picked up a Rob Klinkhammer pass and fired his first goal of the season in at 15:59.
In the second period Texas cut Rockford’s lead in half with a power play goal at 9:11. Garrett Stafford picked up a rebound from an Ivan Vishnevskiy blast and tucked in his third goal of season past Dan Cloutier.
The IceHogs came right back and regained its two goal lead. Pete MacArthur knocked in a rebound into the open Stars net for his third marker of the season at 12:44, helped by Mark Cullen and Ryan Flinn.
Texas trimmed Rockford’s lead back down to a goal when Mathieu Beaudoin shelved his eighth goal of the season under the cross bar 1:53 into the third period.
Cloutier and IceHogs held the Stars off the board the rest of the way to earn the win. The IceHogs outshot the Stars 22-21 in the contest.

Game time is 7:05 p.m. The IceHogs welcome the rival Chicago Wolves into the Rockford MetroCentre for their seventh of ten meetings on the 2009-10 season.
