Blackhawks recall Rockford forward and defenseman, send goaltender to Indy

Chicago, Ill. – The Chicago Blackhawks announced on Wednesday that they have recalled defenseman Adam Clendening and forward Joakim Nordstrom from the American Hockey League’s Rockford IceHogs. Additionally, goaltender Mac Carruth has been reassigned from Rockford to the ECHL's Indy Fuel.

Clendening, 22, set an IceHogs franchise record for most assists by a defenseman in a single season (47) in 2013-14, when he led the team in scoring with 59 points. An AHL First-Team All-Star from a year ago, the Niagara Falls, N.Y. native has one goal and three assists in 16 games this season with Rockford. Clendening was drafted by the Blackhawks in the second round (No. 36 Overall) in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.

Nordstrom, 22, will begin his second stint with the Blackhawks this week. He skated in one game for the Blackhawks this season in Chicago’s 6-2 win over Dallas on Nov. 16. Rockford’s captain has compiled eight points (5g-3a) in 14 games with the IceHogs in 2014-15. Nordstrom appeared in 58 games last season for Rockford, tallying 33 points (17g-16a).

The Tyreso, Sweden native skated in 16 contests with the Blackhawks last season, picking up a goal and two assists.

Carruth, 22, has appeared in three games for Indy, accumulating a 0-1-1-1 record with a 3.54 goals against average and .853 save percentage.

The Jackson, Wyo. native manned the pipes in seven games for the IceHogs in 2013-14, posting a 2-2-1 record with a 3.36 goals against average and .880 save percentage.

Next Home Game: Friday, Nov. 21 vs. Iowa Wild. Game begins at 7 p.m. The IceHogs second meeting with the Wild kicks off with another Blues Flame Lounge Pre-Game Party at the BMO. All ticketed fans 21-and-up can arrive early to enjoy free appetizers, live music and drink specials before enjoying the game. Doors open at 5:15 p.m.
