Chicago, Ill- The Chicago Blackhawks of the National Hockey League have loaned Defenseman Dylan Olsen to the American Hockey League’s Rockford IceHogs.
Olsen, 20, was the Blackhawks’ first round pick (#28 overall) in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. Chicago signed the defenseman to a three-year contract on Saturday.
The Calgary, Alberta native represented the silver winning Team Canada in the 2011 IIHF World Junior Championships in Buffalo, New York. Olsen had two assists in seven games played in the tournament.
Prior to his stint with Team Canada, Olsen racked up 2g-22a-24pts in 53 career games at the University of Minnesota-Duluth. This season with the Bulldogs, Olsen has netted one goal and 12 assists in 17 games prior to turning pro.
