Rockford splits a pair in Week 11

Week 12 Recap
Hopefully the Rockford IceHogs took advantage of their four-day Christmas break. The American Hockey League club kicked off a stretch of seven games in nine days on Friday and five in six days beginning on Monday. Rockford split their two games in Week 12 after scoring 11 goals.

-With their loss on Saturday, the IceHogs are now 14-1-0-2 when scoring three or more goals

-Tim Brent’s five points this weekend is his best weekend in 2008-09 and strongest showing since he recorded seven points (1g-6a) between Nov. 21 and Nov. 24

Hot Hog Week 12:
Tim Brent recorded two goals and three assists in Rockford’s two games this week, taking over the second spot on the team’s season scoring list. Brent’s 14 power-play assists, including two this week, is fourth in the league, one less than three other scorers. On the other side of special teams, Brent notched a short-handed goal the next night, his second of the season. His two-goal game on Saturday is his first this season and first since Dec. 29, 2007 with Wilkes-Barrre/Scranton. It was also his second three-point game of the season and eighth multi-point game of the campaign, tying him with Petri Kontiola for the team lead.

Upcoming Games:
Monday, Dec 29 vs. Iowa Chops. Game time is 7:05 p.m. Monday’s game against Iowa is sold out! Fans that do not have tickets can stop by the MetroCentre Box Office at 10 a.m. on Monday and can enquire about some late team released tickets and standing room only tickets. Also on Monday, the Chicago Sky Drumline will entertain the crowd during timeouts and intermissions.

Tuesday, Dec. 30 at Quad City Flames. Game time is 7:05 p.m. Rockford travels to Moline to face-off against the Flames at the i wireless Center. The game is the third of four in Quad City this season between the West Division rivals and fifth of eight overall.

Wednesday, Dec. 31 vs. Quad City Flames. The final game of 2008 starts at 7:05 p.m. Ring in the New Year with the IceHogs on Wednesday when they take on the Flames at the MetroCentre. Bring your skates for a postgame skate on the ice while New York City’s ball drop plays on the big screen. Also, Illusionist Jason Michaels will perform following the game.

Friday, Jan. 2 at Chicago Wolves. The 2009 schedule kicks off at 7:30 p.m. The IceHogs open the 2009 portion of their regular season schedule on Friday against the Wolves at the Allstate Arena. The game is the fourth of five at the Allstate between the two clubs and the last before the season finale on April 11.

Saturday, Jan. 3 vs. Chicago Wolves. Rockford’s fifth game in six days starts at 7:05 p.m. The back-end of a home-and-home series with the Wolves ensues at the MetroCentre. The first 2,000 fans to the game will pick up a pair of IceHogs winter gloves courtesy of Mega Truck Rental and 13 WREX.

The IceHogs Broadcasting Network:
Rockford IceHogs fans can catch all of the IceHogs regular and post-season games on the Hogs flagship radio station Rockford’s Voice, WNTA-AM 1330 and 30 regular season games on ESPN Radio 1380-AM, WTJK. Fans can also watch and listen to the Hogs on the World Wide Web with AHL Live! Visit the IceHogs Web site (icehogs.com) and click on the “click here to watch the AHL Live” icon, and for just $6, you can catch all of the IceHogs action on your computer. Also, fans with Comcast Cable television can tune in to Channel 57 for all the IceHogs hockey action this season. The broadcast begins with the Pregame Show 30 minutes before the puck drops. No Hog Talk This Week At Cousin’s Bar and Grill:
There will be no Bud Light Hog Talk at Cousin’s Bar and Grill tonight. The show, which runs from 6-7 p.m., will resume on Monday, Jan. 5. Bud Light Hog Talk is hosted by Jim Stone and features IceHogs Head Coach Bill Peters along with a pair of IceHogs players.

IceHogs fans can now catch every IceHogs regular season game live on TV! Every IceHogs home game during the 2008-09 season can be viewed on Comcast Cable Channel-57.
