Des Moines, IA - The Rockford IceHogs skated past the Iowa Wild 4-3 on Wednesday night inside the Casey's Center in Des Moines.

The Wild jumped out to an early lead at 5:46 of the 1st period. Bradley Marek snapped his shot home from the near circle past Rockford's Laurent Brossoit.

Iowa doubled its lead while on a 5-on-3 power play earlier in the 2nd frame. Hunter Haight shot from the far dot with the Wild holding the manpower advantage.

In his first game back with the Hogs, Landon Slaggert got Rockford on the board two minutes after the Haight tally. The second-year forward danced his way down the slot and found space behind Iowa's Cal Petersen to cut the deficit to 2-1 Wild.

Rockford pulled even while on a 5-on-3 power play of its own. Nick Lardis converted from a familiar spot at the bottom of the circle on a one-time blast. Sam Rinzel earned his first point as an IceHogs on the PPG.

Just 1:11 into the 3rd period, Brett Seney found space along the near wall and spotted Kevin Korchinski by the back post. The Hogs defenseman tapped in the pass to give Rockford its first lead of the game at 3-2.

The Wild earned a power play with under three minutes to go and pulled Petersen for the extra attacker. Hogs defenseman, Nolan Allan lifted a high-arching backhander from his own goal line into the empty net to double the Rockford lead.

Gerry Mayhew added a late goal for the Wild from the crease to bring the Wild back to 4-3 in the waining moments. Brossoit slammed the door for his first win with the IceHogs, stopping 30 shots.

Rockford returns home to the BMO Center on Friday, December 12 with a 7:00 p.m. puck drop hosting the Milwaukee Admirals. It's a $2 Beer and Soft Drink Night with tickets available at icehogs.com.
