Fourth-year center receives first career recall


Chicago, Ill.-The Chicago Blackhawks announced on Saturday that the National Hockey League club has recalled center Evan Brophey from the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League.

Brophey, 23, earns his first career NHL recall. The Kitchener, Ontario native has skated in six games with Rockford in 2010-11 and has chipped in two goals with an assist.

In his fourth season, Brophey is Rockford’s all-time leader in games played in the team’s AHL era with 238. Chicago’s third round selection (#68 overall) in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, Brophey has 36g-56a-92pts during his AHL stint in Rockford.

Chicago takes on the Columbus Blue Jackets tonight at the United Center at 7:30 p.m.

Brophey is the third player to get recalled from Rockford to Chicago this season joining Brandon Pirri and Jassen Cullimore. Rockford has had 26 different players recalled to the Blackhawks over the past four seasons and have had 31 different alumni play in the NHL overall.
