Chicago, Ill.- The Chicago Blackhawks have assigned forwards Evan Brophey and Jeff Taffe to the American Hockey League’s Rockford IceHogs. In addition, the Blackhawks have assigned goaltender Cristobal Huet to HC Fribourg-Gotteron SA of the Swiss National League A.
Brophey is Rockford’s all-time AHL games leader (232) and returns for his fourth season with the IceHogs. The Kitchener, Ont. native tallied 14g-17a last season in 79 games for Rockford. Brophey has totaled 34g-44a in three seasons with the IceHogs.
Taffe enters his ninth season in professional hockey and has 389 games of AHL experience. Last season, the Hastings, Minn. native appeared in 61 games for the Rochester Americans (AHL) notching 28g-28a. Taffe also skated in 21 games with the Florida Panther (NHL) chipping in a goal and an assist.
Chicago’s training camp roster now stands at 33 active players, which includes 19 forwards, 10 defensemen and four goaltenders.
Rockford’s training camp roster contains 29 players, including 16 forwards, 10 defensemen and three goalies.
