BROOKBANK RETURNS TO ROCKFORD, SIGNS A PTO

Rockford, Ill.- The Rockford IceHogs, members of the American Hockey League, have signed veteran defenseman Wade Brookbank to a professional try-out contract, Chicago Blackhawks General Manager of Minor League Affiliations Mark Bernard announced on Thursday.

Brookbank, 34, returns to Rockford after skating in 56 games for the IceHogs in 2010-11, tallying two goals and racking up 143 penalty mintues.

The defenseman has appeared in 127 games in the National Hockey League between the Nashville Predators, Vancouver Canucks, Boston Bruins and Carolina Hurricanes, making his NHL debut in 2003-04 with Nashville.

The Lanigan, Saskatchewan native has played professionally for 13 seasons, including 10 in the AHL with Albany, Binghamton, Grand Rapids, Manitoba, Milwaukee, Norfolk, Providence, Rockford and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.

He has skated in a total of 379 games in the AHL, recording seven goals, 23 assists and 1,215 penalty minutes. In 712 career professional games spanning the West Coast Hockey League, Central Hockey League, International Hockey League, AHL and NHL, Brookbank has 17 goals, 53 assists and 2,686 penalty minutes.
