BRODEUR NAMED RBK HOCKEY ECHL GOALIE OF THE WEEK
Princeton, NJ- The ECHL announced on Tuesday that the Pensacola Ice Pilots Mike Brodeur is the Rbk Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week for Feb. 4-10.
The Calgary, Alberta native was 2-0-1 with a 1.59 goals-against average and a .947 save percentage in three games last week to help the Ice Pilots improve to 4-1-1 in their last six games.
The 6-foot-2 and 185-pound Brodeur made 19 saves in a 2-1 win against Columbia on Feb. 4 and then turned aside 34 shots in a 3-2 overtime loss against the Inferno on Feb. 5. He had 37 saves in a 2-1 win at Charlotte on Feb. 10 to help Pensacola finish the week 2-1-1. Since his return from Rockford of the American Hockey League, he is 3-0-1 with a 1.70 GAA and a .943 save percentage.
The 24 year old is 5-6-3 with a shutout, a 3.00 goals-against average and a .913 save percentage in 16 games with the Ice Pilots while also playing in the American Hockey League where he is 1-0-0 with a 2.25 goals-against average and a .944 save percentage in two games with Rockford.
Drafted in the seventh round (211th overall) by Chicago in the 2003 National Hockey League Entry Draft and under an NHL contract to the Blackhawks, Brodeur has played in the ECHL each of the last three years and is 38-25-3 with six shutouts, a goals-against average of 2.57 and a save percentage of .924 in 66 regular season games with Augusta, Greenville and Toledo.
