Rockford, Ill.- In March, members of the Rockford IceHogs hockey team will trade in their skates for bowling shoes and they are inviting fans to join them. The IceHogs announced on Thursday that they are hosting their third annual Bowl-A-Thon to raise funds for the Sydney Ives Foundation.
The Bowl-A-Thon will take place at Cherry Bowl in Cherry Valley on Sunday, March 4 from 2-5 p.m. The first 100 bowlers, or 25 teams, to register for the bowling event will be guaranteed to bowl with an IceHogs player or coach.
Registration is $40 per bowler or $150 for a team of four. Fans can sign up for the IceHogs Bowl-A-Thon at any IceHogs home game at the BMO Harris Bank Center by stopping by the U.S. Cellular Fan Zone. Fans can also register by calling the IceHogs Communications Department at (815) 847-6381 or by downloading the entry form at icehogs.com and emailing it to the IceHogs office at icehogs@icehogs.com.
Proceeds from this event will benefit the Sydney Ives Foundation, a non-profit organization that is designed to help families in the fight for the life of their ill child. The foundation is in memory of Sydney Ives. Ives was made an honorary IceHogs team member on May 20, 2009 after she was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor the year prior. She passed away on Nov. 7, 2009. To learn more about the foundation, visit sydneyives.com. All registered bowlers will receive three-games of bowling (nine pin), shoe and ball rental and a raffle ticket. The deadline to register is Friday, Feb 24 by 5 p.m.
Raffle prizes will include, but are not limited to, Blackhawks tickets, a team autographed stick, Dental Dimensions Club Lounge seats, framed IceHogs photos and more.
If you are interested in attending the event but not interested in bowling, the IceHogs are offering a $10 viewing ticket. The viewing ticket will include a raffle ticket and access to the event for photos and autographs.
The IceHogs will also hold a Premium Raffle as well. The Premium Raffle tickets will be good for a suite night at an IceHogs game, a chance to win one of two game worn IceHogs jerseys or a pair of tickets to all the remaining 2011-12 home games (nine games). Additional prizes may be added and premium raffle tickets will be sold for $5 each or five for $20.
