Boqvist & Highmore Recalled by Chicago
ROCKFORD, Ill. – The Chicago Blackhawks today announced they have recalled defenseman Adam Boqvist and forward Matthew Highmore from the American Hockey League’s Rockford IceHogs.
Boqvist, 19, made his professional debut with the IceHogs this season and has logged one goal and five assists in 15 AHL games. He scored his first AHL goal on Oct. 30 vs. San Antonio and posted back-to-back multi-point efforts on Nov. 23 at Texas and Nov. 24 at San Antonio. That two-game stretch featured a career-high three-point night when he picked up a trio of assists in Rockford’s shootout loss to the Stars.
The Falun, Sweden native returns to the Blackhawks where he has scored one goal over six NHL contests. Boqvist made his NHL debut on Nov. 2 at Los Angeles and scored his first NHL goal the following night at Anaheim.
Highmore, 23, has spent the majority of the 2019-20 season with Rockford, serving as an alternate captain while tallying 12 points (4g, 8a) in 21 AHL games. He is tied for third on the team in overall scoring and has notched three points (3a) over his last five games. The forward also logged a season-high three-game point streak with one goal and four assists from Oct. 30 – Nov. 3.
The Halifax, Novia Scotia native rejoins Chicago having skated in two NHL games this season. Overall, Highmore has scored two goals in 15 career NHL contests over the last three seasons. He netted his first NHL goal on March 10, 2018 at Boston.
