BONDRA SIGNS ATO WITH ROCKFORD

Rockford, Ill. – The Rockford IceHogs announced today that they have signed forward Radovan Bondra to an amateur tryout contract (ATO).

Bondra, 20, recently concluded his second straight season in the Western Hockey League. He split the 2016-17 campaign between the Vancouver Giants and division-champion Prince George Cougars, combining to average more than a point per game with 32g-31a-63pts in 62 contests between the two clubs. The 6-5, 221-pound forward then chipped in 2g-3a-5pts in six postseason games for the Cougars during the first round of the WHL playoffs.

A native of Trebisov, Slovakia, Bondra debuted in the WHL with a 30-point season for Vancouver in 2015-16. He concluded his two-year tenure in the league with 47g-46a-93pts over 120 total appearances between Vancouver (90 games) and Prince George (30 games). On the international stage, Bondra has skated in 17 games for the Slovakian U20 Team and helped the club collect a bronze medal in the 2015 IIHF World Junior Championships.

Bondra was originally selected by the Chicago Blackhawks in the fifth round (No. 151 overall) of the 2015 NHL Draft.
