Blackhawks Sign Prospect Davis

General Manager Dale Tallon announced today that the Blackhawks have signed forward Nathan Davis out of Miami University of Ohio.

A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Davis, 21, stands at 6-1 and weighs in at 204 pounds. He was the Blackhawks 4th round pick (117th overall) in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. He played the last four seasons for the RedHawks appearing in 138 games and notching 63 goals and 69 assists for 132 points and 105 penalty minutes.

Davis was limited to only 21 games during his Senior season (2007-08) due to injuries but still accumulated eight goals and nine assists for 17 points and seven penalty minutes while posting a plus/minus rating of +3.

In his Junior season (2006-07), Davis was one of the 10 finalists for the prestigious Hobey Baker Memorial Award which is awarded to the Top Collegiate Hockey Player each season. He was also named to the RBK/American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) West All-America Second Team and All-Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) Second Team honors.

Davis was named the CCHA’s Best Defensive Forward for the 2006-07 season while finishing with 50 points and ranking 9th nationally in scoring. He was one of two collegians to compete in the 2007 World Championships for Team USA.

Davis earned All-CCHA First Team honors while also being named Miami’s Outstanding Offensive Player for the season. He also served at an Assistant Captain for Team USA at the 2006 IIHF World Junior Championship.
