The Chicago Blackhawks have signed defenseman Simon Danis-Pepin (see-MOHN, da-NEE-peh-PEHN) to a three-year contract.
Danis-Pepin, 21, finished off a four-year career at the University of Maine (Hockey East) last season, leading club defensemen and tying for third overall on the team with a collegiate career-high 13 assists. The Gatineau, Quebec native served as a co-captain during his senior campaign while also accruing 29 penalty minutes.
Chicago’s third choice, 61st overall, in the 2006 National Hockey League Entry Draft, Danis-Pepin registered 36 points (6G, 30A) and 81 penalty minutes in 133 career games with the BlackBears spanning four seasons (2005-09).
