Brookbank also released from Hawks camp, joins Hogs
Chicago, Ill.- The Chicago Blackhawks have assigned forwards Brandon Bollig, Rob Klinkhammer and Brandon Pirri, and defensemen Jonathan Carlsson, Simon Danis-Pepin, Ryan Stanton and Ivan Vishnevskiy to the American Hockey League’s Rockford IceHogs.
Bollig skated in three regular season games with Rockford last season after forgoing his junior and senior season at St. Lawrence University. In his three contests with Rockford, Bollig chipped in a goal and an assist.
Klinkhammer joins Rockford for his third season. Last year the winger tallied 10g-13a in 73 games with the IceHogs. The 2010-11 campaign is Klinkhammer’s fourth at the professional level.
Pirri, 19, enters his first season at the pro level. The Toronto, Ont. native skated at R.P.I. University last year and accumulated 11g-32a in 39 games, second most on the team during his freshman campaign.
Carlsson begins his second season in North America and in the AHL. The 22-year-old defenseman split time between Rockford and the Toledo Walleye (ECHL) in ’09-10. With Rockford, Carlsson chipped in a goal in 19 contests.
Danis-Pepin will skate in his second season in the AHL this season. The 6-7 blueliner played in 38 games with the IceHogs taking in a goal and seven assists. Danis-Pepin also saw time in Toledo with the Walleye last year.
Stanton, like Bollig, joined Rockford at the tail-end of 2009-10. The St. Albert, Alb. native played in two regular season and two postseason tilts with the IceHogs and finishing his four-year junior career with the Moose Jaw Warriors (WHL).
Vishnevskiy enters his first season in the Blackhawks organization. In his third overall season, Vishnevskiy began last season with the Texas Stars and was traded to the Atlanta Thrashers organization and completed the campaign with the Chicago Wolves. The Barnaul, Russia native has five games NHL experience with the Dallas Stars.
In addition the Blackhawks have released forwards Rastislav Pavlikovsky and Nick Tarnasky, and defenseman Wade Brookbank.
Brookbank under contract with Rockford, will join the IceHogs on Sunday when the club opens their 12th training camp at the Rockford MetroCentre. The veteran winger played in 68 games with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins last season, netting 3g-4a with 168 PIMs.
Chicago’s training camp roster now stands at 37 active players, which includes 22 forwards, 11 defensemen and four goaltenders.
Rockford’s training camp roster contains 15 forwards, nine defenseman and three goalies for a total of 27 skaters.

Before the game on Saturday there is a fan festival from 1-4 p.m. where fans can enjoy music, food, and entertainment.
