IceHogs training camp roster up to 29 as it opens Sunday

Chicago, Ill.- The Chicago Blackhawks have assigned forward Chris DiDomenico and defenseman Shawn Lalonde to the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League.

DiDomenico, 21, begins his first full season at the professional level after completing a four-year career in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. DiDomenico recovered from an injury sustained in the QMJHL finals in 2008 and appeared in 12 regular season games with the Drummondville Voltigeurs and 14 postseason games where the center racked up 7g-14a.

The Woodbridge, Ont. native was acquired by Chicago in July in a trade that sent former IceHogs winger Kris Versteeg to the Toronto Maple Leafs. DiDomenico was Toronto’s sixth round selection (#164) in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.

The 2010-11 season will also be Lalonde’s first full campaign at the pro level. The blue-liner joined Rockford last spring after finishing off a four-year stint in the Ontario Hockey League with the Belleville Bulls. With the Bulls in ’09-10 Lalonde chipped in 13g-43a in 58 games.

Lalonde appeared in eight regular season games with Rockford last year and three Calder Cup Playoff games. In the regular campaign, Lalonde notched a goal and an assist. The d-man was Chicago’s third round selection (#68 overall) in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.

Chicago’s training camp roster now stands at 35 active players, which includes 21 forwards, 10 defensemen and four goaltenders.

Rockford’s training camp roster contains 16 forwards, 10 defenseman and three goalies for a total of 29 skaters.
