Kyle Beach (6-3, 205) from Everett in the Western Hockey League (WHL) with the 11th overall pick in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft at the Scotiabank Place in Ottawa, Ontario.
Beach, 18, spent the 2007-08 season with the Everett Silvertips of the WHL and finished second overall in goals and third overall in points (27-33-60). He was also the only player in the League to average a point-per-game while averaging over three penalty minutes per game (3.7). After his rookie season in the WHL in 2006-07, he was awarded the Jim Piggott Memorial Trophy as the Rookie of the Year after scoring 29 goals (29-32-61). He was born in North Vancouver, British Columbia, and his hometown is Kelowna, British Columbia.
The 2008 NHL Entry Draft proceedings will continue tomorrow, Saturday, June 21, with Rounds 2-7 beginning at 9:00 A.M. CT on NHL Network (coverage begins at 8:30 A.M CT). The Blackhawks have six picks remaining in Rounds 2-7, coming at No. 72 (Third Round), No. 102 (Fourth Round), No. 132 (Fifth Round), No. 162 (Sixth Round), No. 169 (Sixth Round) and No. 192 (Seventh Round).
