Chicago, Ill.-Blackhawks General Manager Dale Tallon announced today that forward Petri Kontiola has been recalled from the Rockford IceHogs of the AHL.

Kontiola has appeared in 19 games for Rockford scoring 4 goals to go along with 16 assists for 20 points with 12 penalty minutes and a +8 rating.

Kontiola, 23, was the Blackhawks’ 7th round pick (196th overall) in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. He appeared in 4 pre-season games for the Blackhawks and did not score. He has never played in an NHL regular season game.

Injuries and illness have taken their toll on the Blackhawks lineup. Martin Havlat, Jason Williams, Rene Bourque, and Kevyn Adams continue to be sidelined with injuries while the flu bug has hit Patrick Sharp and Tuomo Ruutu both of whom could not play in last night’s 3-2 shootout loss at Edmonton.
