BLACKHAWKS RECALL JOKIHARJU ON EMERGENCY BASIS

ROCKFORD, Ill. – The Chicago Blackhawks today announced they have recalled defenseman Henri Jokiharju on an emergency basis from the American Hockey League’s Rockford IceHogs.

Jokiharju, 19, was assigned to the IceHogs on Jan. 30 and has logged nine points (1g, 8a) in nine contests. The blueliner ranks second among AHL defensemen in scoring since making his debut, and entered Friday with seven points (7a) during his current four-game point streak. Jokiharju made his Rockford debut and scored his first career AHL goal on Feb. 1 vs. the Chicago Wolves.

The Oulu, Finland native returns to the Blackhawks where he has picked up 12 assists in 37 games during his rookie campaign. He began the season with multi-point efforts in two of his first three contests and finished the first month of the season tied for first among NHL rookie defenseman in scoring with seven points (7a) in 12 games.

Jokiharju was originally selected by Chicago in the first round (29th overall) of the 2017 NHL Draft.
