General Manager Dale Tallon announced today that the Blackhawks have recalled defenseman Dustin Byfuglien from the Rockford IceHogs of the AHL.

Byfuglien has appeared in 8 games for Rockford this season scoring 2 goals to go along with 5 assists for 7 points with 25 penalty minutes and a +6 rating.

Byfuglien suffered a pulled muscle in his rib cage during training camp and was one of the final players assigned to Rockford to start the season.

Last season, Byfuglien played in 9 games for the Blackhawks scoring 1 goal and 3 points with 10 penalty minutes. He spent most of last year playing for the Norfolk Admirals in the AHL where he appeared in 63 games scoring 16 goals and 44 points.

Byfuglien was the Blackhawks’ 8th round draft choice (245th overall) in the 2003 entry draft. He made his NHL debut in the 2005-06 season with the Blackhawks appearing in 25 games and scoring 3 goals to go along with 2 assists for 5 points.

Byfuglien has appeared in 34 career NHL games scoring 4 goals and adding 4 assists for 8 points with 34 penalty minutes.
