Blackhawks Recall Crawford From Rockford

The Chicago Blackhawks have recalled goaltender Corey Crawford from the American Hockey League’s Rockford IceHogs.

Crawford, 25, appeared in one regular-season game with the Blackhawks in 2009-10, recording 32 saves on 35 shots in the team’s 4-2 loss at the Anaheim Ducks on March 17. The Montreal native has seen action in eight regular-season games with the Blackhawks since making his debut in 2005-06, notching a 1-3-1 mark with a 2.60 goals-against average and a .915 save percentage. He appeared in one Stanley Cup Playoff game with the club last season, posting six saves on seven shots in 15:55 of action in Game 4 of the Western Conference Final against Detroit on May 24.

Crawford led Rockford netminders with 24 wins (24-16-2) and recorded a 2.67 goals-against average and a .909 save percentage in 45 AHL contests this season. He appeared in four Calder Cup Playoff tilts with the IceHogs, posting a 3.61 goals-against average and an .871 save percentage during the club’s 4-0 series defeat by the Texas Stars in the West Division Semifinal.

Chicago’s second choice (52nd overall) in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, Crawford has amassed 135 wins (135-98-13) in 255 career AHL matchups spanning his five-year professional career with the Norfolk Admirals (2005-07) and IceHogs (2007-10), which includes at least 20 in each campaign. He spent the majority of the 2008-09 campaign with Rockford, leading the club with 22 wins (22-20-3) and a .917 save percentage while notching a 2.59 goals-against average in 47 appearances during the regular season.
