The Chicago Blackhawks have reassigned left wing
Bryan Bickell to the American Hockey League’s Rockford IceHogs.

Bickell, 23, led the club with five hits in 6:46 of action during Chicago’s 3-2 loss at the Detroit Red Wings on Thursday. The Bowmanville, Ontario, native also recorded four penalty minutes in three preseason games with the Blackhawks in North America before dishing out an assist in the team’s 9-2 win over HC Davos in Zurich, Switzerland on September 28. Overall, he has notched two goals in eight career games with the Blackhawks over parts of two seasons (2006-07; 2007-08 and 2009-10).

Bickell collected 14 points (6G, 8A) and 60 penalty minutes in 42 contests with Rockford during the 2008-09 regular season before tying for the team lead with two assists in four postseason tilts. Chicago’s third choice, 41st overall, in the 2004 National Hockey League Entry Draft, he has appeared in 163 career AHL regular-season contests with the Norfolk Admirals (2006-07) and IceHogs (2007-09) since turning pro in 2006, registering 35 goals, 43 assists, 78 points and 178 penalty minutes.

Prior to turning pro, Bickell spent four seasons in the Ontario Hockey League with the Ottawa 67’s and Windsor Spitfires, notching 190 points (94G, 96A) and 235 penalty minutes in 242 career regular-season outings.
