BLACKHAWKS OPEN 2009 TRAINING CAMP ON SEPTEMBER 13

Chicago, Ill.-The Chicago Blackhawks will launch training camp in preparation of the 2009-10 season at Johnny’s Ice House in Chicago (1350 W. Madison) on Sunday, September 13 beginning at 10:00 A.M.

Blackhawks General Manager Stan Bowman and Head Coach Joel Quenneville will be available to the media following the conclusion of Sunday’s on-ice schedule. The team’s training camp roster consists of 59 players that will be split into three groups. A complete training camp schedule, including locations, and roster are available at chicagoblackhawks.com.

Nineteen players from the 2008-09 Blackhawks squad that reached the Western Conference Finals for the first time in 14 years will be in attendance. Chicago racked up 46 wins and 104 points during the 2008-09 regular season, the franchise’s most in 16 years.

During training camp, all players will be made available to the media once their on-ice and off-ice workouts are complete. Head Coach Joel Quenneville will speak at the conclusion of the final on-ice session. Interview requests for General Manager Stan Bowman should be made through the media relations department. Members of the media are urged to contact the media relations department each morning to confirm all practice locations and times for the duration of camp.

The Blackhawks will play six preseason games during training camp, four of which take place in North America, starting when the club hosts the Washington Capitals at the United Center on Saturday, September 19 at 7:30 P.M. Chicago will complete its preseason slate at the Victoria Cup in Zurich, Switzerland on September 28 and 29 before opening the 2009-10 regular season as part of NHL Premiere 2009 in Helsinki, Finland on October 2 and 3.
