Blackhawks Open 2008-09 Training Camp With Media Day Sept. 19
The Chicago Blackhawks will launch training camp in preparation of the 2008-09 season with a media day at the United Center on Fri., Sept. 19. Media day festivities will commence at 10:30 A.M. with General Manager Dale Tallon and Head Coach Denis Savard addressing the media and will follow with player availability. The team’s training camp roster consists of 60 players that will be split into three groups. Team Roster | AHL/Free Agent Invitees | Camp Teams.
The Blackhawks will then kick-off their first official day of on-ice practice at the United Center on Sat., Sept. 20, when the first of three groups begins at 10:00 A.M. Throughout the day, the team will also host its first-ever Training Camp Festival at the United Center from 8:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M., which includes a 5K Run/Walk/Skate, a 3-On-3 Street Hockey Tournament and a public Blackhawks practice, plus live music and an interactive games area. All events, including the practice, are open to the public.
During training camp, all players will be made available to the media once their on-ice and off-ice workouts are complete. Head Coach Denis Savard will speak at the conclusion of the final on-ice session. Interview requests for General Manager Dale Tallon should be made through the media relations department.
Members of the media are urged to contact the media relations department each morning to confirm all practice locations and times for the duration of camp.
The Blackhawks will play eight preseason games during training camp, which includes four on home ice, beginning when the squad takes on the Columbus Blue Jackets at the United Center on Tue., Sept. 23 at 7:30 P.M.
