In conjunction with the National Hockey League, the Chicago Blackhawks announced their 2012-13 regular-season schedule on Thursday. The organization’s 85th regular season begins when the club hosts the Columbus Blue Jackets at the United Center on Saturday, Oct. 13 at 7:30 p.m. CT, marking the first time since 2005-06 that the Blackhawks will open the season at home.

Twenty-four of the club’s 41 contests in Chicago take place on weekends, including nine Fridays, three Saturdays and 12 Sundays. Six of Chicago’s first eight games (Oct. 13-Nov. 2) and seven of their first 11 (Oct. 7-Nov. 5) will be played on home ice. The Blackhawks will skate in a season-long seven-game homestand from Feb. 15-March 1, equaling a franchise-long originally set during the 1926-27 season (matched in 1951-52 and 1969-70).

The Blackhawks will open their 41-game road slate at the MTS Centre when they face off against the Winnipeg Jets on Tuesday, Oct. 16 at 7:00 p.m. CT. Chicago’s longest road trips of the season include three six-game swings from Nov. 14-23, Jan. 29-Feb. 9 and March 14-24. Chicago’s regular-season schedule last featured more than two road trips of five-plus games in 2006-07.

The Blackhawks will match up against each of their four Central Division rivals six times (Columbus, Detroit, Nashville and St. Louis) and their remaining 10 Western Conference foes four times apiece. Chicago will play each team in the Eastern Conference at least one time in 2012-13.

For the fifth consecutive season, all Chicago Blackhawks games will be televised in HD on Comcast SportsNet Chicago and WGN-TV, the official television broadcasting partners of the Blackhawks, with Pat Foley and Eddie Olczyk providing the call. Every game in 2012-13 can also be heard on WGN Radio AM-720, with John Wiedeman and Troy Murray calling the action. The complete television broadcast schedule will be released at a later date.
