For the second consecutive year, the Chicago Blackhawks are inviting all fans to participate in a “Beard-A-Thon” during the 2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs to help raise money for Chicago Blackhawk Charities.
Fans willing to grow a beard during the Blackhawks postseason run, joining in on a tradition among National Hockey League players during the playoffs, can invite their peers to pledge money for each day they maintain it through the website www.beardathon.com/Blackhawks. Fans unable to partake in the tradition can still pledge money towards their favorite Blackhawks player, which supports Blackhawk charities.
The Blackhawks will launch the 2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs when they face the Nashville Predators in the best-of-seven Western Conference Quarterfinals beginning at the United Center on Friday, April 16 at 7:30 P.M. Chicago is the second seed in the Western Conference, marking the first time in 13 years the club will make consecutive Stanley Cup Playoffs appearances. The Blackhawks finished the regular-season first in the conference with a franchise-record 52 wins (52-22-8) and second with a franchise-record 112 points while capturing the Central Division title, its first division crown in 17 years. The Blackhawks also earned a club-record 23 road wins during the regular-season.
