Chicago, Ill.-The Chicago Blackhawks announced today that the team has extended their affiliation agreement with the Toledo Walleye of the ECHL, the leading professional development league for the American Hockey League and National Hockey League, through the 2013-14 season.
Toledo posted a 28-38-2-4 record during the 2011-12 campaign, their third season in the ECHL and as a Chicago affiliate, with Head Coach/Director of Hockey Operations Nick Vitucci at the helm.
The Walleye franchise is owned and operated by Toledo Arena Sports, Inc., under the direction of President/General Manager Joe Napoli. The group also operates the Toledo Mud Hens Baseball Club of the Triple-A International League.
Since affiliating with Toledo prior to the 2009-10 season, there have been 23 different players that have suited up for both Toledo and Rockford including Carter Hutton, Peter LeBlanc, Rob Flick and Alec Richards.
