(link)The Chicago Blackhawks announced today the team has claimed left wing Joakim Lindstrom (6-0, 187) off waivers from the Anaheim Ducks.
Lindstrom, 24, has appeared in 37 career National Hockey League games with Columbus over the past three years (2005-08), netting eight points (four goals, four assists) and 18 penalty minutes.
Last season, the Skelleftea, Sweden native posted NHL career highs in games (25), goals (three), assists (four) and points (seven) with the Blue Jackets. He also led the American Hockey League’s Syracuse Crunch with 60 points and shared the team lead with 25 goals – both professional career highs – in 49 regular-season contests.
The Blue Jackets’ second choice, 41st overall, in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, Lindstrom has registered 94 points (65 goals, 94 assists) and 159 penalty minutes in 176 career AHL regular-season outings with the Crunch. He has appeared in 19 career Calder Cup Playoff tilts with Syracuse, collecting five goals and four assists.
The Blackhawks’ training camp roster is now at 35 active players, which includes 21 forwards, 10 defensemen and four goaltenders. The complete list is attached.
