Chicago, Ill.-The Chicago Blackhawks have assigned forward Jeremy Morin to the American Hockey League’s Rockford IceHogs.
Morin, 19, was acquired by Chicago in a June trade with the Atlanta Thrashers that sent Dustin Byfuglien, Brent Sopel and Ben Eager to Atlanta. The Auburn, New York native is entering his first professional season after playing last season in the Ontario Hockey League and the previous two in the North American Hockey League.
Last season with the Kitchener Rangers (OHL) Morin tallied 47g-36a-83pts in 58 regular season games. The 6-1 winger then accumulated 12g-9a in 20 OHL playoff games.
Rockford’s roster now stands at 25 skaters including 16 forwards, seven defensemen and two goalies. The IceHogs open the 2010-11 regular season on Saturday at the Rockford MetroCentre against the Manitoba Moose at 4:35 p.m.
