BLACKHAWKS ASSIGN LEFT WING SERGEI SAMSONOV TO ROCKFORD ICEHOGS

Chicago, Ill.-General Manager Dale Tallon announced today that left wing Sergei Samsonov has cleared waivers and the Blackhawks have assigned him to the Rockford IceHogs of the AHL.

Samsonov, 29, appeared in 23 games for the Blackhawks this season, picking up four assists and six penalty minutes. Samsonov was acquired by the Blackhawks on June 16, 2007 from the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for Jassen Cullimore and Tony Salmelainen.

Samsonov is expected to be in Rockford on Friday when the IceHogs face-off against the Chicago Wolves.
