BLACKHAWKS ASSIGN KONTIOLA AND VERSTEEG TO ROCKFORD IN THE AHL

Chicago, Ill.-Blackhawks General Manager Dale Tallon announced today that forwards Petri Kontiola and Kris Versteeg have been assigned to the Blackhawks American Hockey League affiliate, the Rockford IceHogs.

Kontiola, 23, made his NHL debut at Vancouver on November 25, logging 9:43 of ice time and producing one shot on goal. Prior to being recalled by the Blackhawks, Kontiola was second in scoring for the Rockford IceHogs, with four goals and 16 assists in 19 games.

Versteeg, 21, made his NHL debut at Calgary on November 22 and played a total of three games for the Blackhawks, picking up two penalty minutes and taking six shots on goal. Prior to be recalled by the Blackhawks, Versteeg had two goals and nine assists in 16 games for the Rockford IceHogs.

The Blackhawks next game will be at the United Center against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Wednesday, November 28 at 7:30 p.m. CST.
