BLACKHAWKS ASSIGN 6 TO ROCKFORD
Chicago, Ill. - The Chicago Blackhawks announced today they have assigned forwards Joakim Nordstrom, Dennis Rasmussen and Garret Ross, defensemen Adam Clendening and Klas Dahlbeck and goaltender Scott Darling to the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League.
Nordstrom, 22, split time with Rockford and Chicago during 2013-14. The Tyreso, Sweden native racked up 33 points (17g-16a) in 58 contests with the IceHogs, while accumulating three points (1g-2a) in 16 games for the Blackhawks. Nordstrom also appeared in seven Stanley Cup Playoff games for Chicago.
Ross, 22, finished his first professional campaign with 15 goals and 19 assists in 74 games for Rockford. His +12 plus/minus rating led all Rockford rookies and ranked second-best on the team overall.
Rasmussen put up 40 points (16g-24a) in 52 games with Växjö of the Swedish Hockey League in 2013-14. The 24 year-old paced the club and ranked 10th in the league in points.
Clendening, 21, paced the IceHogs in scoring in 2013-14, posting 12 goals and 47 assists in 74 contests. The blueliner was named a co-Best Defenseman for Rockford and was also named a First Team AHL All-Star.
Dahlbeck, 23, posted career highs in goals (10), assists (25), points (35), and a team-best plus/minus rating (+20) last season with the IceHogs. The defenseman ranked second in scoring on the team among d-men, and eighth overall, and led Rockford blueliners in goals. Dahlbeck shared co-best Defenseman honors for the IceHogs with Clendening.
Darling, 25, posted a shutout for the Blackhawks in their 5-0 win over the Edmonton Oilers in the team's fourth preseason game on Sunday. The Lemont, Ill. native posted a 13-6-2 record with six shutouts, a 2.00 goals-against average and a .933 save percentage in 26 games last season with the Milwaukee Admirals of the American Hockey League, ranking second in the league in shutouts.
The IceHogs training camp roster now includes 15 forwards, 13 defenseman, and three goaltenders.
