Blackhawks Announce 2009 Preseason Schedule

The Chicago Blackhawks announced today the team’s 2009 preseason schedule, which consists of four games against National Hockey League opponents and two matchups in Zurich, Switzerland.

The Blackhawks will open their preseason slate with a matchup against the Washington Capitals at the United Center on Saturday, September 19 at 7:30 P.M. Chicago then battles the Minnesota Wild at Xcel Energy Center on Sunday, September 20 at 5:00 P.M. The Blackhawks travel to Washington to face off against the Capitals at the Verizon Center on Wednesday, September 23 at 6:00 P.M. (CT), before rounding out the North American portion of their preseason schedule against Minnesota at the United Center on Friday, September 25 at 7:30 P.M.

The Blackhawks travel to Zurich to meet 29-time Swiss National Champion HC Davos at Hallenstadion Arena on Monday, September 28 at 1:15 P.M. (CT). Chicago finishes its preseason slate when the club faces off against ZSC Zurich Lions in the 2009 Victoria Cup at Hallenstadion Arena on Tuesday, September 29 at 1:15 P.M. (CT).

Single tickets for preseason games at the United Center will be available on Monday, July 20 at 10:00 A.M., at chicagoblackhawks.com, by calling (312) 559-1212, at all Ticketmaster ticket centers, the Blackhawks Store (333 N. Michigan Ave.) and the United Center ticket office. Information about full season packages and group tickets for regular-season games are available by calling (312) 455-7000.

The 2008-09 Blackhawks recorded 46 wins and 104 points during the regular season, the franchise’s most in 16 years, before earning a berth in the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the first time since 2002. Chicago, which posted a 5-1-2 during the 2008 preseason, reached the Western Conference Finals for the first time in 14 years.

The complete 2009-10 regular season schedule will be released later this afternoon by the NHL.
