BLACKHAWKS AGREE TO TERMS WITH ALEX BROADHURST
The Chicago Blackhawks announced today that they have agreed to terms with forward Alex Broadhurst, the team’s seventh round choice (199th overall) in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, on a three-year entry-level contract.
Broadhurst, a New Lenox, Ill., native, tallied 63 points (24G, 39A) in 65 games with the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League last season, while ranking third on the team in points and assists, and fifth in goals. The 20-year-old also ranked second on the Knights with 28 points (10G, 18A) in 21 OHL playoff games, while leading London to the 2013 Robertson Cup.
Prior to his time in London, Broadhurst recorded 106 points (39G, 67A) in 108 career games with the Green Bay Gamblers of the United States Hockey League from 2010 to 2012. The 5-11, 174-pound forward led the Gamblers to the 2012 Clark Cup title and was named to the 2012 All-USHL First Team.
Alex’s brother, Terry, skated in 31 games with the American Hockey League’s Rockford IceHogs in 2012-13, notching 5g-8a-13pts.
