BLACKHAWKS ACQUIRE ERIXON FOR MORIN
Chicago, Ill.-The Chicago Blackhawks announced today that they have acquired defenseman Tim Erixon (AIR-ihx-uhn) from the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for forward Jeremy Morin; Erixon will report to the Blackhawks.
Erixon, 23, has six points (1G, 5A), including five power-play points (1G, 4A), in 19 games with the Blue Jackets this season; he netted his first career National Hockey League goal on Oct. 26 at Los Angeles. The Port Chester, N.Y. native has also added 14 hits and 13 blocked shots this year.
Originally selected in the first round (23rd overall) of the 2009 NHL Draft by the Calgary Flames, Erixon has 13 points (1g-12a) in 70 career NHL games across four seasons with the New York Rangers (2011-12) and Columbus (2012-14). He has 100 points (13g- 87a) in 132 career American Hockey League games across three seasons with the Connecticut Whale (2011-12) and Springfield Falcons (2012-14); he has added six points (1g-5a) in 14 career Calder Cup Playoff games.
Morin, 23, has posted 16 points (8g-8a) in 54 career regular-season games across four seasons (2010-14) with the Blackhawks and added two shots on goal in as many 2014 Stanley Cup Playoff games.
The Auburn, N.Y. native has registered 158 points (81g-77a) in 208 career AHL games from 2010-14 with the IceHogs. He is Rockford’s all-time leading goal scorer, notching his 81st career goal with the Hogs on Saturday night in Lake Erie.
