BISHOP STEALS WIN FROM ROCKFORD

Vs PEO Morin Fairchild
Rockford, Ill – Ben Smith and Brandon Pirri earned more combined shots on goal than the entire Peoria Rivermen roster on Wednesday, but Ben Bishop came up big for Peoria in goal, turning away every shot he faced en route to a 1-0 victory over the Rockford IceHogs at the BMO Harris Bank Center.

Rockford held Peoria to just 13 shots on goal, the lowest number of shots allowed by the IceHogs during its AHL era.

Anthony Peluso tallied the loan goal of the night just 20 seconds into the middle frame. With heavy traffic in front of the IceHogs net, Brennan Evans fired a shot from the blue line that Peluso redirected past Alexander Salak to give Peoria a 1-0 lead, which they would hold for the remainder of the game.

The IceHogs were 0-for-7 on the power play, while the Rivermen did not convert on any of their three man advantage opportunities.

Bishop, who turned away 36 IceHogs shots to earn the win, left the game shortly after the Rivermen scored in the second period, but returned about halfway through the frame and finished the game.

Jake Allen made six saves while he replaced Bishop briefly. Salak was tagged with the loss, making 12 stops.
