Blackhawks Recall Bickell From Rockford
Chicago, Ill.-The Chicago Blackhawks have recalled left wing Bryan Bickell from the American Hockey League’s Rockford IceHogs.
Bickell, 23, has appeared in one game with the Blackhawks this season, posting five hits in 6:46 of action during Chicago’s 3-2 loss at the Detroit Red Wings on Oct. 8. He also recorded four penalty minutes in three preseason games with the Blackhawks in North America before dishing out an assist in the team’s 9-2 win over HC Davos in Zurich, Switzerland on September 28. Overall, Bickell has notched two goals in eight career regular-season games with the Blackhawks over parts of three seasons (2006-07; 2007-08 and 2009-10).
The Orono, Ontario, native ranks third on Rockford with 26 penalty minutes, shares third with four goals and fourth with six points in 14 AHL tilts this season. He collected 14 points (6G, 8A) and 60 penalty minutes in 42 contests with Rockford during the 2008-09 regular season before tying for the team lead with two assists in four postseason tilts.
Chicago’s third choice, 41st overall, in the 2004 National Hockey League Entry Draft, Bickell has appeared in 177 career AHL regular-season contests with the Norfolk Admirals (2006-07) and IceHogs (2007-09) since turning pro in 2006, registering 39 goals, 45 assists, 84 points and 204 penalty minutes.
Prior to turning pro, Bickell spent four seasons in the Ontario Hockey League with the Ottawa 67’s and Windsor Spitfires, notching 190 points (94G, 96A) and 235 penalty minutes in 242 career regular-season outings.
