BEACH TRADED TO NEW YORK FOR MASHINTER
Chicago, Ill. - The Chicago Blackhawks announced today that they have acquired forward Brandon Mashinter (ma-SHIHN-tuhr) from the New York Rangers in exchange for forward Kyle Beach. Mashinter will report directly to the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League.
Mashinter, 25, has appeared in six games with the New York Rangers this season and recorded 27 penalty minutes in 23 career National Hockey League games with the Rangers and San Jose Sharks. The Bradford, Ontario, native has tallied seven points (1g-6a) and a +3 plus/minus rating in 11 games this season with the AHL’s Hartford Wolf Pack. He has registered 134 points (65g-69a) in 282 AHL games across five seasons with Hartford, Connecticut and Worcester.
Beach, 23, shows four goals in seven games this season for the IceHogs, including his first career professional hat trick last Saturday against the Chicago Wolves. The Kelowna, British Columbia native has collected 76 points (41g-35a) in 169 AHL games with the IceHogs across six seasons.
The former first round draft pick for the Blackhawks (#11 overall in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft) ranks tied for fifth on the IceHogs all-time list with 422 career penalty minutes. He was named the CCM/AHL Player of the Week during the fourth week of the 2012-13 season after scoring 3g-2a in two games for Rockford.
Beach appeared in one preseason game with the Blackhawks this year, skating in 12:58 of ice time in a 5-4 shootout win on Sept. 20 at Washington.
Next Home Game: Friday, Dec. 13 vs. Oklahoma City Barons at 7 p.m. The first 2,500 fans through the gates will get a BMO Harris Bank Hubert Doll as the IceHogs open a two-game weekend set against the Barons.
