Rockford, Ill. – The Rockford IceHogs announced today they have assigned forward Tyler Barnes to their ECHL affiliate, the Indy Fuel.
Barnes, 26, signed an AHL contract with the IceHogs prior to the 2016-17 season and has played in five games with Rockford this year. The Burnsville, MI native has totaled five shots with a -3 plus/minus rating since making his team debut on Oct. 21 at Grand Rapids.
Prior to joining the IceHogs, Barnes spent the majority of each of the last two seasons at the ECHL level with Missouri (2015-16) and Toledo (2014-15). The right winger collected 135 points (58g-77a) in 140 games between the two clubs, and was named the 2014-15 ECHL Rookie of the Year after setting Toledo’s franchise record for points (74).
Barnes also skated for the University of Wisconsin from 2010-14, notching 101 points (45g-56a) in 152 games for the Badgers.
