Assistant Coach Mark Hardy Signs Contract Extension

General Manager Dale Tallon announced late today that the Blackhawks have extended the contract of Assistant Coach Mark Hardy through the 2008-09 season.
Hardy joined the Blackhawks on June 12, 2006 after spending the previous 7½ seasons as an assistant coach for the Los Angeles Kings. He is currently in his second season as an assistant coach for the Chicago Blackhawks.
Along with coaching the Blackhawks defensemen, Hardy is also responsible for the Blackhawks penalty killing unit. Hardy enjoyed a 15-year NHL career as a defenseman playing for the Los Angeles Kings, New York Rangers, and Minnesota North Stars. In 915 career NHL games, Hardy scored 62 goals to go along with 306 assists for 368 points with 1,293 penalty minutes.
